Danny Kim (김동현) is the co-founder and CEO of Lucent Studios, an impact film studio dedicated to creating narratives that drive change. His most recent directorial success, "Zero Waste" (2023), was met with critical acclaim and garnered two prestigious awards: the Emerging Filmmaker Award at the 2023 LA Asian Pacific Film Festival and the Green Award at the Terravia Film Festival in Bologna, Italy.
Prior to his leadership at Lucent Studios, Danny excelled as the producer of the Sundance-featured documentary "Love Child" (2014), gaining a broadcast deal with HBO Documentary Films. He worked as a video journalist at the Agence-France Presse (AFP) Seoul office, where he covered major stories and partnered with notable worldwide media publications such as the Economist, Wall Street Journal (WSJ), and VICE News.
Danny expanded his impact on the documentary world in 2021 by launching Docu+, emphasizing his commitment to transformative storytelling.
Danny graduated from Duke University with a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Experimental and Documentary Arts and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communication Arts - Radio, TV, and Film.
He brings a wealth of experience and a fierce love for impactful storytelling to the forefront of the worldwide film industry.
Danny resides in Suwon, South Korea.
